Scheana Shay and Lala Kent Hit Back at Hypocrite Label Amid Tom Sandoval-Raquel Leviss Scandal

{content:

Shay became a household name when Eddie Cibrian cheated on Brandi Glanville with her, while Kent recently admitted to hooking up with James Kennedy while they were both with other people -- one of them being Raquel Leviss.

"Vanderpump Rules" stars Scheana Shay and Lala Kent are not down with being labeled hypocrites for showing support for Ariana Madix after Tom Sandoval allegedly cheated on her with fellow costar Raquel Leviss.

Both women have been fiercely #TeamAriana since TMZ's shocking report on Friday, which said Sandoval and Leviss have been in a secret relationship with each other as far back as Summer 2022 ... a relationship Ariana apparently only found out about last week, causing her to split from her longtime partner.

Kent was one of the first people to speak out on social media after the news made headlines, saying, "I've known these two are disgusting from the jump." She later slammed Sandoval's semi-apology over the weekend, in which he asked friends to not take their anger out on his bar, Schwartz & Sandy's, but didn't mention Madix at all.

After she went in, some of the show's followers started bringing up how she and James Kennedy recently admitted to having sex up with each other while they were both in the beginning stages of dating other people. At the time of their hookup, Lala just started to date Randall Emmett, while James was with Raquel. On Instagram Saturday, she addressed her critics.

Lala Kent Not Impressed with Tom Sandoval Cheating Apology Focused on Business Impact

"Since so many wanna point out James and I hooking up,. Let's not forget that reunion where R*quel said, 'We really started our relationship after I moved in with him,'" she began. "And we now know R*ndall was indeed married at the time (& lied about it), and you can't cheat on a married person."

"So as far as I'm concerned, James and I were two single people having a gooooood time. Enough with your noise," she added. "It's starting to sound like S*ndovals band and it's hurting my freshly pinned back ears."

Shay got similar criticism after she posted a photo of her alongside Madix, commenting, "Always got your back! #TeamAriana."

Kristen Doute Supports Ariana Madix After Tom Sandoval Split & Alleged Cheating Scandal

One her Shay's followers asked, "Wonder who had [Brandi Glanville's]? So quick to team up but let's not forget you walked in [Raquel's] shoes."

In case anyone forgot: Way back when "Vanderpump Rules" started, Shay was linked to Eddie Cibrian, who was married at the time. She's always insisted she didn't know he was married when they were hooking up -- and said she called it off with him when she found out.

Scheana's response to the critics: "I don't recall having an affair with my best friends bf KNOWINGLY but go off!"

The Englishman sent a message to Manchester United supporters on his official Twitter account on Monday, March 6th, 2023. He asked that the fans stick together with the team and try to trust the process.

I wish we could play a game today to try and put things right. The result is the result, and we can't see past that! We must not let it define our season. We have to trust the process and stick together.

The Red Devils were in full confidence following their Carabao Cup victory and quarter-final qualification to the next round in FA Cup.

Reece James
Reece James

The Blues right-wing back, Reece James will be available for the game against the Bundesliga club on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023. James missed Saturday's much-needed 1-0 win over Leeds in the Premier League with a tight hamstring, having initially been considered a key doubt for the game.

N'Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic also joined in with Chelsea training on Monday as they are close to their respective returns from injury.

Kante has not played since August 2022 in the game against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Pulisic was sidelined with a knee problem since early January. Both players are not expected to start against Dortmund.

See What Neymar Jr. Did When Kylian Mbappe Set A New Record At PSG

Following numerous speculations on the relationship both football stars share, Neymar has reacted to Mbappe setting a new record.

It seems as though all is well in Paris and the dynamic duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. have no issues between them as the media had initially speculated as the Brazilian star Neymar Jr. squashed the rumors on the friction in their relationship when he took to social media to celebrate a new achievement of his team mate.

Neymar Jr. on his Instagram story celebrated Kylian Mbappe's new record of being the highest goal scorer of all time at PSG with a total of 201 goals. The football star who is currently out injured and would miss the second leg of the Champions league tie against Bayern Munich was excited about Mbappe's new achievement and this was obvious with his post on social media.

See Neymar's post below:

This is however not the first time both stars would silence such rumors and speculation which had surfaced in the beginning of the 2022/2023 season as Mbappe also took to social media to react to Neymar's injury in February 2023.

All is well in Paris.

Morgan Wallen - Hope That's True Lyrics

Verse 1
I hate that S-Class Benz that you're so damn proud of
You hate my truck 'cause you can't climb out of it
And I'll admit it girl, I said it and I meant it
Yeah, I loved you for a minute, but we dance sure different
It's been a week since you went and hit the highway
And made it clear that I oughta have it my way
But my way looks a whole lot better
With just my truck in the driveway

Chorus
And I hope you find you a high rolling
High rise view that you don't get in the country
And I hope you find you a guy with some dollar sign eyes
And a pocket full of money
And it ain't that I want you to think that I hate every single little thing you do
But when you say that I ain't ever gonna find nobody just like you
I hope that's true

Verse 2
You got drunk one night and told me I was white trash
I was high but I guess I wasn't high class
Enough to show up with you on your own
We were never gonna be two kids on a farm

Bridge
I could sit here bitter and bitching
And wishing things woulda gone different
But that don't sound nothing like me at all
Honey, who the hell am I kidding?

Outro
Yeah, I hope that's true

American Idol 5th Judge: Miracle Crash Survivor Learns to Talk Again, Gets Second Chance at Dream

{content:

A neurodivergent musical prodigy shares his story through song -- plus, two of the all-time best original songs ever on this show are ready for country and pop radio right now!

Original songs and miracle comebacks punctuated the third week of auditions as "American Idol" rolled on.

Oh, and we got another Normandy situation, if you'll recall last year's contestant who came in with a squeaky speaking voice only to belt out Tina Turner in a full-throated baritone. It happened again with a new contestant who had such a different singing voice to her speaking voice, you'd swear it wasn't the same person.

Lala Kent Not Impressed with Tom Sandoval Cheating Apology Focused on Business Impact

In the original song territory, we got two great ones with mixed returns on the quality of the person singing it. One brought in a top-notch country track that we could see on the radio today, filled with so much heart. The other one was giving us Meghan Trainor vibes for its pop catchiness, clever lyrics and danceability. It's exciting to see artists fully baked getting the chance to be themselves.

And then there was the young woman who came in and decided to show who she was by doing a cover song on the piano. But not just any song, she took on Lionel Richie's "Hello" and left his jaw hanging in the wind.

Throw in a neurodivergent musical prodigy with perfect pitch who delivered another original song and a young man who recovered from a horrific accident that left him needing to relearn how to walk and talk and the night was not short on inspiration or tears, either. This season of "Idol" seems to have tears and talent in equal measure!

Fair warning, since I'm safe at home, I'm probably going to be a little harsher than my colleagues Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. But I might be nicer, too. Maybe.

And just for fun, I'm going to rank the performances from worst to first to see who my favorites are each week. That way I can see who's the best and then see if you get it right with your votes -- i.e., agree with me.

Chris Rock Savages Will Smith in Brutal Standup, Twitter Equal Parts Outraged and Delighted

Theater Kids Medley

This collection of performances were all so overly theatrical and over-the-top in their delivery that even the strong, impressive voices were just such a mismatch for this show and this dream. But we're ready to start casting for "Broadway Idol" so these talented kids can have a direct connection to where they should be taking their talents. And we're not talking about something like "Grease: You're the One That I Want!" It's not about casting a single show or single role, but about finding the next generation of Broadway stars. PBS tried it a few years ago and the networks are gun-shy after "Grease," but wouldn't it be fun to see all that ham and theatricality on a weekly show like this?

Results: Not right for this

Bre

("All Night Long," Lionel Richie - 27, Burbank, CA) We got a hint as to how this came to happen with Bre's job as a dueling pianist. Lionel was already next to her on the piano belting out his tune after a commercial break, so we could only guess they were recreating her vocation. Unfortunately for Bre, her voice perhaps paled even more next to Lionel's on his own classic. Aside from that, though, there was no way hers was going to be strong enough to make a legitimate run on this show. It was a little too warbly and pitchy for us. The duet was a lot of fun, though, with Lionel really hamming it up. And apparently the overall experience was stronger than what we saw because she made it!

Results: Y, Y, Y

Mikey Burson

("Cold as Ice," Foreigner - 22, Nashville, TN) There was something interesting happening with Mikey -- and it wasn't that his mom gigs with him as his pianist. He's got a good voice and a great range and plenty of volume, but it sounded a bit nasally and in his head. There was an unexpected thinness to his voice even as he was bellowing admirably that crazy Foreigner range. The panel was unsure what to do with him, too, with Katy chalking that up to him not revealing anything about his own artistry in that note-for-note cover. There was definitely something that felt hollow. Maybe it was too performative, with no real substance behind his intent as a singer, which is what Katy was missing.

From Aubrey Plaza to Ben Affleck to Winona Ryder: When a Single Face Expression Says It All on Awards Night

Keelin

("Don't Call Me," Keelin - 24, New York, NY) As a pop bop this is it. We loved all the spoken elements and the whole vibe and energy of the track. Unfortunately, the only weak spot in it was Keelin's voice. She was giving us great pop songwriter vibes, but maybe for now writing songs for other people. She needs to put in more work on her voice to make sure she can still hit the note while performing her choreography and moves. The whole thing was so orchestrated, from each vocal moment to the backing track to every move she made. It was just the voice that was missing that same level of polish and preparation. She's clearly got talent, but can she rise up?

Results: Y, Y, N

Emma Busse

("Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," Elton John - 20, Vancouver, BC) She got the honor of appearing just after that disastrous musical theater montage of kids who couldn't shake all that training to calm the f--- down for this type of show. Could Emma? Katy warns her right away she needs to be able to set that aside and bring a different side of herself to this stage. She definitely slipped into some of those habits as she performed, but there is no denying the range and power of her voice. Plus, there was some interesting character in it, especially early on. Her vibrato could calm down a bit and not be so … theatrical. Luke challenged her to sing "Happy Birthday" but ultimately to strip the vibrato out entirely, which she was able to do and nail the pitch. If this is the direction she wants to go, it proves she can be taught and find her way. The voice is already there.

Results: Y, Y, Y

Adin Boyer

("Predicament," Adin Boyer - 22, Lake Forest, CA) Adin came on in part to push forward representation for neurodiversity. On top of that, he has perfect pitch and is a bit of a musical prodigy. He opened up about his sensory issues that can lead to meltdowns if he hears a loud noise, for example. But he developed a coping mechanism where he now focuses to try and identify the pitch of the loud noise, which allows him to navigate that chasm. He was on track to become a concert pianist, but a Coldplay concert -- and his pitch ID trick -- refocused him onto the singer-songwriter track.

He came with a very unusual original song that had unique intonation, syncopation and rhythm throughout. His classical training definitely rides in his voice, but there's a hint of musical theater in his phrasing and writing. It results in a wholly unique auditory experience as he brings all of these influences into the singer-songwriter realm. We were feeling all over the place through this piece, but never less than fully fascinated. It'll be interesting to see if he can rein in some of his excesses as a singer and connect.

Travis Kelce SNL Sketches Ranked: Fox Dominion Scandal, Dilbert Creator Racism and More

Sara Beth

("You Know I'm No Good," Amy WInehouse / "Bennie and the Jets," Elton John - 25, Roseville, California) This was an interesting one as Sara is a young mother of three who doesn't consider herself a musician and couldn't even say if this was her dream or not. She immediately did not have Katy on her side. Despite a solid enough karaoke cover of Amy Winehouse, Katy still wasn't impressed. Sara said she'd originally planned the Elton John but changed it due to her voice. Katy pushed her into him anyway.

She remained an enigma, but at least this song pushed her into more of her voice and she's really got something there. She must be one of those natural talents who has no idea the gift she has. She's clearly never even tried to work it out, but the raw materials are so there. If she decides she really wants this and pushes herself, she could get exciting fast. The panel, other than Luke, remained on the fence about her but ultimately put her through -- so she needs to decide if this is what she wants. We hope she does so we can see what might blossom.

Results: N, Y, Y

Tanner Charles

("Golden Eyes," Tanner Charles - 20, Broken Arrow, OK) In a cute gesture for his girlfriend, Tanner wrote an original song to perform in honor of her upcoming birthday. It was a very sweet song that sounded very contemporary. Tanner has a nice tone to his voice, but he needs to reach deeper into his chest when he sings to round out his sound and give it that extra punch of power. He's definitely got that unassuming swoon-worthy vibe to him that tends to do quite well on this show. If he can grow more into his full voice and connect like this to cover songs, he could have a good run on this journey.

Results: Y, Y, Y

Preston Duffee

("Something to Write About," Preston Duffee - 21, Hartsville, SC) Preston lost his mother to suicide a few years back, leading to temporary homelessness for him and his sister. His mother struggled with bipolar and depression and couldn't overcome her mental struggles, but Preston honored her story and memory by sharing it before presenting an original song that touched on his whole life.

Honestly, this was one of the best original country songs we've ever heard on a reality show. It had all the pieces to make it a hit from clever wordplay to a beautiful throughline with strong imagery and a sense of faith. We also loved the unique rhythm and phrasing employed throughout to keep you on your toes and listening. There was a humility in the lyrics that spoke to who Preston is and how the hardships of life have shaped him into who he is. This was a masterful way to introduce himself not only to the judges, but to the world.

Elijah McCormick

("Bless the Broken Road," Rascal Flatts - 21, Raeford, NC) Elijah has recovered from a horrific car accident just after his high school graduation where he said he had to learn to walk and talk all over again. 79 days and 10 surgeries later -- and after flatlining nine times -- Elijah is ready to chase his dream of singing. There was even video footage of him trying to sing from his hospital bed, hoping he could still do it. He even shared that his mother had signed up for "Idol" before the accident and he had his ID number and was ready to go when suddenly he wasn't.

His recovery must have been truly remarkable, because just these few years later (the accident was June 2019), he has so much power and rich texture in his voice, that had you not known, you'd have never guessed he'd ever endured such a thing. He put a lot of soul into this piece, slowing it down at times to emphasize certain words or phrases. There's a beautifully full tone there, but we found ourselves wondering if he'd be able to stand out among some of the more unique artists already seen.

The judges were thinking of the late "Idol" runner-up Willie Spence (who tragically died in a car accident last year) in his vocal, but we aren't quite ready to go there yet. We could get there, but he's got to take us on that ride.

Results: Y, Y, Y

Wé Ani

("Anyone," Demi Lovato - 23, Harlem, NY) Wé comes in with this high-pitched mousey speaking voice -- we've seen this before on "Idol" -- and then is able to drop it way down low to belt out a genuine and heartfelt take on one of the most emotional songs of the last decade. This song is so hard to nail even Demi doesn't always get it, but Wé was effortless in selling not only the incredible power and range, but the heartache and aching loneliness. This was a stunning performance. She has such a great personality on top of all of that talent, she should be a lot of fun to watch.

Marybeth Byrd

("If It Hadn't Been for Love," The Steeldrivers - 21, Armorel, AR) Marybeth put a bit of her own "barbecue sauce," as Lionel would put it, on this track and every choice she made only enhanced the overall experience. This was such an artistic performance, we felt every bit of who she is and where she sees herself as an artist from this one moment. Her voice has a great character to it with cracks and breaks throughout but a lot of power and range. It's an interesting voice that makes you want to marinate on it more. We love a memorable and unexpected vocal performance!

Olivia Soli

("Hello," Lionel Richie - 20, Los Angeles, CA) First of all, the nerve to come up and sing one of the judges' songs in front of that judge, and then for that song to be this one where there is absolutely nowhere to hide, Olivia has nerves of steel. Either that, or she just had that much confidence because she knows how good she is. This was an incredibly tasteful and powerful interpretation of Lionel's classic. It was as perfectly suited for her soaring vocals as when Lionel sings it. She sang it like she wrote it, which is really what it's all about. Even Lionel had to get on his feet for this one.

Just know as long as I'm up, that it's never your turn in
Look, they must've forgot that I'm my daddy's son (Woah)
And if I'm after him, they have to run, okay, you had a run
Difference is we the ones that run it
Discipline is the difference 'tween who got it and who want it
They rather count me up than count me in
Always count on me, y'all boy's counterfeit
They rolling with the punches, boy, I counted it
Y'all really judging me and I can't honor it
See, I was born in the ashes so of course I rise
I'm in that state of mind, for real, y'all just borderline
I wake up to look inside my daughter eyes
And realize I'm immortalized

Chorus: Big Sean & EST Gee
Born in the ashes so of course I rise
There's diamonds on my gold
They must've forgot that I'm my daddy's son (Whoa)
We the ones that run it
Born in the ashes so of course I rise
There's diamonds on my gold
They must've forgot that I'm my daddy's son (Whoa)
We the ones that run it (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Verse 2: EST Gee
I been under fire so long, but heat made a shiner out of coal
There's diamonds on my gold
Loyalty take a toll on my soul but I can't fold
Red snow made my heart cold
Up close on his clothes like I'm tryna scan a barcode
Then he hit the gas, pipe sound like Pop Smoke
I wasn't nervous or nothing, I seen it and locked in on
Come from where a hot stove could heat up your house cold
Can't buy tobacco but head of his household
Pack crumbs stale faced, they all say he act wrong
Survivor's over tap phone, hit up his back bone
You gotta know the trap code, don't run 'til the pack gone
Fighting for my life or choose to end up a sad song, yeah
(Stop, stop)
Fighting for my life or choose to end up a sad song, yeah
(Stop, stop)

Morgan Wallen & Eric Church - Man Made A Bar Lyrics

Verse 1: Morgan Wallen
I sat down on a barstool, like a darn fool
'Cause she walked out again
Bartender said, "I got you
Yeah, 'cause I, too, have been in your boots, my friend
Opened up back in '85, got me over my first wife
Been staying busy since the first night"
It's a story old as time

Chorus: Morgan Wallen
God made the world in seven short days
He said it was good, I bet it was great
Then God made a man, and man got lonely
He said, "Please, Lord, if I could only
Have an angel to hold in my arms"
So God made a girl, His best work of art
Oh, but he didn't make no place to go when she breaks your heart
So man madе a bar

Verse 2: Eric Church
For some guys it's a good time
The half pricе, half dozen buckets of beer
Some say it's a cover band, that's a cover man
I know why they're here
Didn't go the way you planned it
Damn, the devil did some damage

Chorus: Eric Church & Morgan Wallen
So God made the world in seven short days
He said it was good, I bet it was great
Then God made a man, and man got lonely
He said, "Please, Lord, if I could only
Have an angel to hold in my arms"
So God made a girl, His best work of art
Oh, but he didn't make no place to go when she breaks your heart
So man made a bar
Yeah, man made a bar

Bridge: Morgan Wallen
Sometimes an angel falls too hard
Loses more than just a piece of her heart
And she needs a place to go and make a brand new star

Chorus: Eric Church & Morgan Wallen
God made the world in seven short days
Said it was good, I bet it was great
God made a man, man got lonely
He said, "Please, Lord, if I could only
Have an angel to hold in my arms"
So God made a girl, His best work of art
Oh, but he didn't make no place to go when she breaks your heart
So man made a bar

Outro: Eric Church & Morgan Wallen
Man made a bar
Yeah, man made a bar

The Last of Us Recap: Ellie Alone Against Terrifying New Threat -- Plus, Video Game Joel Actor

{content:

With Joel incapacitated, Ellie tries to take control as she faces a charismatic new leader on "The Last of Us" -- plus, video game Joel voice actor Troy Baker!

Fans of "The Last of Us" video game series had been waiting all season for this episode, with Joel voice actor Troy Baker finally making his appearance in a familiar role, albeit new for him.

This latest standalone chapter picked up the story with Ellie trying to care for Joel and figure out how to fend for the both of them in the harsh Colorado winter. For all of his training, she's still an overwhelmed kid in an unfamiliar world.

This week introduced yet another large group that's established a settlement under the guidance and religious leadership of David, played to the hilt by Scott Shepherd. As viewers first meet him, David is leading the group with a Bible reading at a funeral service for a father they'd just lost.

Alas, the winter is hard and provisions are low. It's this struggle for food that brings Ellie into contact with this group, where we also meet David's right hand man James, played by the video game's Joel voice actor, Troy Baker.

With Joel unconscious, Ellie heads out with the rifle to see if she's learned anything from the training he finally gave her. For all that she has played Ellie as a total bada-- teenager with an attitude way bigger than her diminutive frame, Bella Ramsey really leaned into the youth of her character, drawing out a vulnerability and childlike fear that was palpable.

When she faceplanted trying to chase a rabbit (which was a foolhardy thing to do), she looked so overwhelmed and small in this big, white world. It's in moments like this that she knows there is a reason Joel was sent to protect her. She may think she can take on the whole world, but it's so much bigger than she is, and more dangerous.

Her fear is just as front and center a little later after she shoots a deer and tracks it through the snow. When she arrives, she finds David and James standing over it. They'd been out trying to hunt as well and had stumbled across her kill.

Ellie manages to take control of the situation, but everything from her voice to her body language betrays how frightened she is even when she seemingly has the upper hand. Again, it's so clear how much smaller she is than these two fully-grown men, and how much danger one slip could put her in.

David tells her about their settlement in an attempt to connect with her, leading to a deal where they'll split the deer for the medicine Joel needs to fight off his infection from the attack at the university. That attack, though, would quickly come back to haunt Ellie, too.

While James is away, David ultimately reveals that the funeral was for a man killed while on a scavenging raid by a man traveling with a young girl. Immediately, Eliie's red flags go up, but so do ours as viewers.

The production team and writers and even the performances have had us on the fence. We've been trained by now to be leery of everyone, but David has presented himself as a reasonable man and leader. We've seen decent and kind people already, like the settlement Tommy is in. Could this be another?

But the reveal that one of the three men who attacked Joel and Ellie unprovoked at the university was one of their men immediately left us even more uncertain. Was his behavior an anomaly, or was this seemingly sweet town hiding a more sinister level of behavior? At least Melanie Lynskey's rebels were blatantly violent and awful!

When James returns with the medicine, he wants to kill Ellie right away for her proximity to their man's death, but David forces him to let her go. Again, Ellie's youthfulness betrays her as they are easily able to track her through the snow back to the neighborhood she and Joel are holed up in.

Before that, though, we got our first real indication that David is not all he presents himself as. When they return to their community with the deer carcass and tell them about Ellie, the young daughter of the man killed says they should kill both of them.

Without a moment's hesitation, David walks up and smacks her across the face so hard she falls to the ground. Even more significant, no one -- including the girl's own mother -- reacts at all. "The truth is you always had a father. And you will show him respect when he's speaking," David said.

As the group is fed a pittance, it's pointedly shown that not only is David served by hand, he's given a significantly larger portion of food, which he eats in front of everyone. Suddenly, religious leader is turning hard into cult leader.

Scott Shepherd did a masterful job of playing that slightly sinister undertone from his very first scene, leaving us a little wary of him, but unsure why we felt that way. From this moment, though, his duality from charismatic and compassionate leader to dangerously controlling sociopath came into focus.

When the group from the settlement arrives in the neighborhood, Ellie leaves Joel with a knife and pleads with him to defend himself, while she attempts to lead them away from him on their horse, which had been chilling in the garage. Credit where credit is due, the girl is brave.

Unfortunately, she's outgunned and outmatched by six grown men. One of them manages to shoot the horse out from under her, and before David can arrive on the scene, the men prepare to kill her. It's again a testament to his power in the group that he can stop them with a word, which he does.

When next we see Ellie, she's in a cage inside of a kitchen inside of the steakhouse of the resort David and his people call home. David tries to charming, charismatic leader approach, but Ellie is far too jaded in this world to just fall for that. She also knows how he and his men hunted her, and were ready to kill her.

And then, she happens to see something on the floor that changes everything. It's a human ear. David and James and a few others have resorted to cannibalism to keep their flock fed -- with most of the faithful having no idea what they're eating.

David can almost be believed when he expresses his reluctance and remorse that they were forced into this way of life, but she's not buying that either. You can simply choose not to do that, damn the consequences.

It then becomes clear why she's not already roasting in a stew pot. David tells Ellie he sees something of himself in her. "I've always had a violent heart," he says, believing that her shooting his men is proof she's cut from the same cloth.

Then, to up the creep factor even more, he starts hinting at the idea of them leading this community together. He even implies that with her help, he might avoid making decisions like, you know eating people. Again, with Shepherd's performance, the creepy sexual undertone is clearly evident.

Ellie is 14 year old. He may not know exactly how old she is, but he knows she's very young, so you're looking at child bride cult fanaticism here, and a perversion that includes violence, cannibalism, and now child predator tendencies.

To her credit, Ellie never stops trying. She lures him closer by caressing his hand only to break his finger and attempt to snatch the keys from him to free herself. Once again, she proves easily overpowered as he slams her face into the bars, knocking her back.

At this point, David has clearly given up on Ellie being malleable enough for his desires, so he brings in James to go the stew route anyway. In a last ditch effort, which we've seen her use before, Ellie tells them about her cordyceps infection.

The confusion and distraction is just long enough for her to get her hands on a butcher's cleaver and slam it into James' throat, killing him almost instantly. She then winds up on the run and hiding in the steakhouse from David. She also throws a torch at him on one point, setting the curtains ablaze.

It's telling that despite this being the central hub of his community, David looks at the fire (still possibly manageable at this point) and ignores it, obsessed and driven into a rage at this point by Ellie having killed another of his men -- but probably more at her rejection of him.

The truth of it comes out as he taunts her while she's hiding from him in the restaurant. "No one likes being humilated, Ellie. You don't know how good I am," he says. You don't know what I could have given you, if you had just let me."

Ellie briefly gets the upper hand as he tells her he's decided to keep her alive and teach her. She manages to slam the cleaver into his gut, but he again overpowers her, straddling and sitting on her so he can be creepy again.

"The fighting is the part I like the most. Don't be afraid, there's no fear in love," he says.

Throughout all of this after Ellie's capture, Joel was taking care of his own business. He managed to get himself off of the mattress just as the first of David's men breached the basement where he'd been recouping.

He choked the man out in time to take down a second one. After a brief interrogation, he found out where they had taken Ellie and how to get to it before killing both men. He then made his way out of the house and killed the rest of them.

This was a strong parallel sequence to Ellie's capture and struggles to ever gain the upper hand, because even in a weakened state and not the killer he once was, Joel was having little trouble wreaking vengeance on everyone, while Ellie found herself overpowered and helpless again and again -- though she never stopped fighting.

Joel made it all the way to the resort where he discovered Ellie's bag and the remnants of their horse in a building. There, he also revealed the secret truth of the place when he saw three headless human bodies hanging like animal meat.

The stage was set for a dramatic rescue by Joel at the last minute. The steakhouse was in flames, so there was probably no doubt where Ellie was at this point. But that's not what happened.

Despite all of her struggles throughout the episode to get and keep control of her own agency, Ellie's rage finally overflowed and she managed to grab the blade she'd dropped when David mounted her and she just attacked.

It was a difficult scene to watch as Ellie unleashed perhaps years of frustration and outrage at being constantly overpowered and controlled by other people out to hurt her, at being unable to defend herself, betrayed by her size and age when her heart is clearly that of a lion.

It was also a moment of such pain and anguish and trauma unleashed in a vicious attack that will more than likely haunt her for some time. She made her own way out of the building only to immediately be accosted by someone.

When she turned, there was temporarily no recognition in her haunted eyes that it was Joel. He was maybe too late to save her from David, but he was still there. "It's okay, baby girl," he said, puling her bloody face into an embrace. "I got you."

In that moment, any pretense that he wasn't going to let her into his heart was gone. Both Pedro Pascal and Ramsey were phenomenal in this small scene. Ramsey was a tour de force throughout the episode, playing so many different complicated character moments, but the shock and vulnerability in this final scene was heartbreaking.

As the episode closed and they walked off, ready for their final adventure of this season, we did find ourselves scratching our heads about where the rest of the community's residents were? There were families and children there, so we don't want to think Joel was keeping himself busy by killing everyone.

But their central meeting and eating place was on fire and no one came running? Or perhaps we're to believe they're all at the front of the building, whereas Elie slipped out the back.

We know it's based on a video game where the action has to keep moving, but it has been interesting watching these threats rise and fall within an episode or two at the most this season. All of these dangers are clearly just to inform and develop the main characters, but it can still be jarring to have these incredible guest stars come and go so quickly and an almost complete reset several times before moving onto the next chapter.

It's not a criticism as the central characters are growing and developing in response to each of these encounters. It's reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" in that way as well as so many other quest adventures. This one might take the lead, though, in how many of the people they encounter wind up dead.

Until we got to the episode where Joel and Tommy were reunited, everyone they'd encountered on the road wound up dead by the time they moved on (or were dead already in the case of Bill and Frank). It takes confidence in your protagonists to be willing to dispatch all your good villains like that as it too often becomes a writer's crutch to keep them alive too long and maybe even try to rehabilitate them.

It's time for the final adventure of "The Last of Us" Season 1. Will Ellie make it to the FIreflies? Will her blood be the cure? Or will all hell break loose -- again. The season finale airs next Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.

Lala Kent Not Impressed with Tom Sandoval Cheating Apology Focused on Business Impact

{content:

"I fully understand and deserve ur anger & disappointment," Tom Sandoval writes to his Instagram, urging fans to not take out their frustration on his restaurant's employees or his partner, Tom Schwartz.

After a cheating scandal rocked the Bravolebrity world, "Vanderpump Rules" star Tom Sandoval has apologized -- and asked fans not to take it out on his restaurant -- leaving Lala Kent underwhelmed (and looking for more).

"I fully understand and deserve ur anger & disappointment towards me," he started a statement posted to his Instagram Saturday night. "But please leave Schwartz my friends and family out of this situation."

Vanderpump Rules Stars React to Alleged Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss Hookup

He went on to emphasize "Scwhartz specifically only found out about this very recently," adding that his business partner Tom Schwartz did not condone his actions.

TMZ broke the story that Tom and Ariana Madix had split after nine years together over allegations he'd cheated with "VPR" co-star Raquel Leviss. In a follow-up piece, the outlet detailed taht Ariana had discovered "sexual" texts and videos between Tom and Raquel that led her to believe he was cheating.

Apparently, Tom and Raquel had been seeing each other for months at that point, with some friends growing suspicious. Ariana, though, was reportedly completely blindsided by the revelation.

Tom's statement put a lot of concern and emphasis on his shared restaurant with Schwartz. He wrote that while the restaurant may have his name on it, "also there are 3 other partners and 20 employees, who especially rely on the restaurant for income for them and their families."

Kristen Doute Supports Ariana Madix After Tom Sandoval Split & Alleged Cheating Scandal

According to TMZ, "Schwartz & Sandy's" was getting bombarded with so many negative reviews since the scandal first broke that Yelp has put a stop on allowing any more to come in.

He described himself as "a small part of a much bigger thing."

"Please direct ur anger towards me and not them," he continued. "They did nothing wrong." He then said he was sorry they had to suffer for his actions.

In his conclusion, Tom acknowledged that this initial statement was almost exclusively about his restaurant, a clear attempt to mitigate any potential fallout from his actions impacting his partners, staff and the bottom line.

"I need some time to address everything else," he wrote. "Sorry for everything."

The bar itself also released a statement of its own, sharing that they understand the outrage that's being directed at the restaurant but also echo Tom's plea that this outrage is misdirected.

"Those of us who are not famous dedicated our time, hearts and money to make this restaurant a reality," the statement reads, also reminding its followers that "the livelihoods of others depend on this business."

"Please take into consideration, that posting negative comments affects more than just the individual you may be upset with," the restaurant urged.

As for Raquel, she has not reacted in any way to the ongoing scandal, while Ariana has deleted all of her social media, per Us Weekly.

Lala Kent quickly responded to Tom's statement in her Instagram Stories. She screenshotted the whole thing, adding the captions, "S*ndoval. Shut up," "Employees, abort mission." and "where's Ariana's apology in this? it's called narcissism... & it's terrifying."

Earlier, people apparently had started coming at Lala over her having hooked up with Raquel's ex-fiancée James Kennedy, so she jumped on her IG Stories to emphasize, "Let's not forget that reunion where R*quel said 'we really started our relationship after I moved in with him.'"

"And now we knew R*ndall was indeed married at that time (& lied about it), and you can't cheat on a married person," she added. "So as far as I'm concerned, James and I were two single people having a goooooooood time."

She concluded this missing by snarking, "Enough with your noise. It's starting to sound like S*ndovals band and it's hurting my freshly pinned back ears."

Shortly after TMZ broke the story on Friday, James Kennedy -- who was in a relationship with Raquel from 2016 to 2021 -- weighed in on the shocking news, sharing a photo of the article to Instagram.

"Hope you all feel as sick as I do. This explains everything," James captioned the post. He then added in a comment, "read it and weep. Toms a f---ing creep!"

Raquel Leviss' Messy Love Life Timeline from James Kennedy to Tom Sandoval

Lala replied to a user calling Tom and Rauqel "vile subhumans" on James' post, adding, ""I've been telling y'all. Everyone said I was a 'bully.' It's called YOU TRIGGER ME AND I SEE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE! I've known these two are disgusting from the jump."

Former "Vanderpump Rules" stars Jax Taylor and Kristen Doute reacted as well.

Jax responded to a fan on Twitter, who asked for his thoughts on the news. "I've called a lot of things on that show that people never believed… everything I say always ends being true..," he tweeted.

Doute also gave her two cents. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kristen wrote that she's "#TeamAriana," before further elaborating in a short video.

"I don't know why I feel like I need to make this clear, but there's so many people right now wondering if this is making me happy," she said. "You guys, Ariana and I have been really good friends for many, many years now, so I'm Team Ariana, all day, every day. That's what's up."

Bravo king and host Andy Cohen took to Twitter, joking, "How many parts is too many parts for the #pumprules reunion???"

He also shared a video on his Instagram Stories on Saturday, admitting that he's just "as rivetted and upset and [is] thinking about this 'Scandoval'" as everyone else. "It's nap time over here," he said. "I just woke up from a nap. I dreamt about Ariana. Everybody's on my mind."

This new twist in the lives of the "VPR" cast comes after a series of romantic entanglements for Raquel, who was already making headlines for some of her post-James hookups. (Click here to see a full breakdown of all the Raquel drama ... so far.)

Season 10 of "Vanderpump Rules" premiered last month, with weekly episodes dropping on Wednesdays. However, production sources told TMZ that after Ariana and Sandoval split, producers resumed production in the hopes of catching the aftermath of the breakup and Sandoval-Raquel alleged cheating scandal on camera. Producers reportedly want to try to add the footage into Season 10, despite the fact that the season is currently airing.

"She's in our face, she's calling all the time, emailing all the time…We got her a bracelet that says grandma and she started crying. She's into it. She's really, really into it. I love it," Josh said on "Good Morning America."

4. Ashlee Simpson & Diana Ross
