72 Players Set to Become Free Agents at the End of the 2022/2023 Season

Here is a full list of all 72 players that would be available for a free transfer to another club at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

As hard as it may seem to believe, football statistics have revealed that a total of 72 players would be out of contract at their respective club sides at the end of the 2022/2023 season and would be available for a move to another side on a free transfer if their respective clubs fail to extend their contracts.

While some of these players might remain that their respective sides, others still have uncertain futures waiting for them as the season slowly comes to an end, latest in June 2023.

BOJ Reveals How He Collaborated With Wizkid On Awolowo Remix

Popular singer BOJ has opened up on how he featured Wizkid on the remix of the hit song 'Awolowo,' off his second studio album 'Gbagada Express.'

One of the pioneers of the Alte sound in Nigeria, Bolaji Odojukan, who is also one-third of the popular music group DRB Lasgidi and known as BOJ in an exclusive interview on the popular podcast, 'uncensored' opened up on how he had featured Wizkid on the remix of 'Awolowo' off his second studio album 'Gbagada Express' released in 2022.

The singer, songwriter and record producer revealed that Ghanaian artist Darko Vibes had reached out to him in the middle of the night to request the song mentioning that Wiz had liked the song and would want to work on the project. He revealed he did not view it as much as at that time until two days later when Wizkid shared a snippet of his verse on the song on social media and tagged him in the post as well.

BOJ revealed that he had asked for the vocals of Wiz but did not think it was possible till it was sent to him, and as many will say, the rest was history, and the song was released in 2022.

Davido Narrates How He Was Arrested on Stage

The award-winning singer had a number of ordeals with the army and police orchestrated by his billionaire father.

Heavyweight Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, gave a story about how he was arrested on stage, alongside his team members.

The DMW frontline act and owner, who is currently promoting his latest album 'Timeless," continues to tell detailed stories of how much sacrifice he made to get to the point he has gotten to in his career.

Speaking in the interview with American media personality Big Boy, the 30-year-old singer highlighted how much he was willing to do music—so much so that he got on bad terms with his billionaire father.

According to Davido, he had to skip school a lot as part of the sacrifices of pursuing his career, a path that was not fully supported by his father, who wanted him to complete his education at all costs.

The award-winning singer made it known that he was once arrested on stage alongside his friends and crew, an instruction that was given by his father as punishment for Davido skipping school.

First Arrests Made by Spanish Authorities in Relation to Racial Abuse Directed at Vinicius Jr.

The Spanish authorities have made the first three arrests in connection to the racial abuse suffered by Vinicius Jr. in the La Liga match again Valencia.

Following a full backlash from top players, legends and government officials, the Spanish authorities according to BBC world news have made their first three arrests of people from the age of 18 to 21 in connection to the racial abuse faced by Vinicius Jr in the La Liga match against Valencia which was played on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

BBC had reported:

Police in Spain have detained three people in connection with racist abuse directed at the Real Madrid footballer, Vinicius Jr, during a match on Sunday.

The three are aged between 18 and 21, the police said in a message on Twitter.

The Brazil international, who is black, has been subjected to such abuse numerous times this season.

The latest incident, during an away match at Valencia, has sparked outrage in both Spain and Brazil.

The game was paused in the second half as an incensed Vinicius reported opposition fans to the referee.

It was also reported that five people who are fans of Atletico Madrid who had been responsible for the hanging an effigy of Vini Jr from a bridge, were also arrested five months after the incident.

BBC also confirmed this in a statement that also added:

Earlier, Spanish police detained four people suspected of hanging an effigy of Vinicius from a bridge in Madrid in January.

The figure appeared ahead of a match between Real and their rivals in the capital, Atletico.

It was hung by its neck under a banner saying: "Madrid hates Real".

Vinicius Jr and other top officials have all expressed their distaste following the incident and football fans and stars from all around the world have also shown support for the Player.

Juventus Director Reacts to Court of Appeal Decision to Deduct 10 Points

The Court of Appeal has decided to deduct 10 points from Juventus which saw them drop to seventh place on the league table.

The news was confirmed in an official statement on Monday, May 22nd, 2023 while they were playing their league game away at Empoli. This is the second time that Juventus will have their points deducted this season, the 15 points that was initially deducted was reinstated by the court.

The club's director Francesco Calvo reacted to the decision before the kickoff of Juventus' tie with Empoli regarding the latest points penalty.

We are not satisfied with the 10 points penalty. We will see if there is room for appeal. We are fighting against everyone and everything this year.

Juventus confirmed in a statement that was released on its official website that it will take time to evaluate the reason the club decided to implement the points deduction again.

Juventus Football Club takes note of what was decided by the FIGC Court of Appeal and reserves the right to read the reasons to evaluate a possible appeal to the Guarantee Board at CONI. What was established by the fifth instance of judgment in this matter, which began more than a year ago, arouses great bitterness in the club and in its millions of supporters who, in the absence of clear rules, find themselves extremely penalised with the application of sanctions that seem to take into account the principle of proportionality. While not ignoring the need for urgency, which Juventus has never shied away from during the proceedings, it is emphasized that these are facts that still have to be evaluated by a judge

They are now a point behind Roma in sixth and five points behind fourth-place Milan, who will face Juventus in Turin this weekend.

Hero Lager Launches People’s Hero Initiative for Fast-Rising Music Talents

Hero Lager, a product of International Breweries Plc, a proud part of the world's largest brewer, AB InBev, has launched The People's Hero Initiative to support creatives on their journey to relevance.

The People's Hero Initiative which is an offshoot of Hero Lager's Uru Dia Campaign which seeks to recognize and reward the worth within the brand's consumers is expected to give the artistes the much-needed platform, funding, and mentoring to navigate the daunting journey to acceptance and recognition in the music industry.

Marketing Director, International Breweries Plc, Bamise Oyegbami made this known at the launch event held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja GRA, Lagos on Friday the 5^th of May, 2023.

The term "Uru Dia" alludes to recognizing the worth within which forms the basis of what Hero Lager hopes to achieve with the campaign by challenging the society to not judge a book by its cover but instead to look beyond the superficial to see the worthiness of heroes, Hero Lager, and the work we all do. We often focus on the results and only show support to those who are already established. But Hero Lager is doing the opposite; the brand, through its People's Hero Initiative has opted to stand by creatives who are still on their journey to earning the acknowledgement and recognition they deserve," Oyegbami said. 

The initiative which aims to foster the development of an ecosystem that artistes can leverage to receive support in the form of funding, airplay and distribution of their work, as well as mentorship from established music acts is expected to support more creatives in the near future.

Providing more insight into the People's Hero Initiative, Marketing Manager, Hero Lager, Dubem Orji explained that the Uru Dia campaign is yet another expression of Hero Lager's belief that every hard-working Nigerian deserves to the recognized and rewarded for their effort.

"In the past, Hero Lager has lent support to Igbo apprentices through the Igba Boi Initiative and individuals in different sectors of the creative industry through The People's Hero Talent Hunt. This time around, we are focusing on the music industry which is currently the biggest creative expression in Nigeria because we see many artistes struggle to get ahead even though they possess undeniable talent," Orji said.

Speaking further, he noted that:

Hero Lager sees the worth in these music talents and that's why we are going to great lengths to support them with strategic partnerships and collaborations aside from funding and mentoring. Through the People's Hero Initiative, Hero Lager plans to create a ripple effect that will transform the growth of the entire creative industry by building an ecosystem new entrants and rising talents can leverage to showcase their talents, network with industry professionals, and access resources that will help them grow their careers.

NBA legend, Carmelo Antony has announced his retirement from the sport after 19 years of playing in the game.

The 38-year-old announced in a video which he posted on hisI official social media account on Monday, May 22nd, 2023. Anthony was a 10-time All-Star who scored 28,289 points with six different teams. He is the ninth-highest scorer in the history of the NBA.

Granit Xhaka Gives Update on His Future at Arsenal

Arsenal's midfielder, Granit Xhaka has given an update on his future to supporters of the club ahead of next season.

The Swissman was speaking in an interview with Football London where he confirmed that he will take a decision on his future before the final league game against Wolves.

If next week we know much more what happen with my future, I will be thankful for the fans because of how they treat me after this [turnaround], I didn't expect that if I am honest. I am thankful for that and I want to give them something back [for] - maybe - my last game on Sunday [vs Wolves].

Real Madrid Releases Strong Statement On The Racial Abuse Directed at Vinicius Jr. in La Liga

Real Madrid has released an official statement following the racial abuse directed at Vinicius Jr. in La Liga.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. was subjected to racist chants from some fans of Valencia in the La Liga fixture played on Sunday, May 21, 2023, and this action has led to a direct response from Los Blancos.

Real Madrid in an official statement confirmed that the actions and words towards Vinicius Jr were questionable and as such have taken the necessary legal steps and have reached out to the office of the Attorney General of Spain to address the issue.

The statement read:

Real Madrid C. F. strongly condemns the events that took place yesterday against our player Vinícius Junior. These events represent a direct attack on the social and democratic model of coexistence of our State based on the rule of law.

Real Madrid believes that such attacks also constitute a hate crime, and has therefore filed the corresponding report with the Attorney General's Office, specifically with the Prosecutor's Office against crimes of hatred and discrimination, in order for the facts to be investigated and for those responsible to be held accountable.

Article 124 of the Spanish Constitution stipulates that the role of the Public Prosecutor's Office is to promote the pursuit of justice in defense of legality and the rights of citizens and the public interest. Given the seriousness of the events that took place, Real Madrid has appealed to the Attorney General's Office, without prejudice to its standing as a private prosecutor in any proceedings that may be initiated.
