'Constantly coaching the team': Tuchel says two Chelsea players have been helping him off the pitch

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has praised Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero for constantly helping the team even from outside the pitch.

The two goalkeepers have not had many opportunities to play, with Edouard Mendy currently occupying the first-choice goalkeeper spot.

Arrizabalaga had two starts under the new manager, in the wins over Barnsley and Newcastle United in February, while Caballero has yet to feature since the 3-3 draw with West Brom in September.

However, they have been assisting the team without being on the pitch, according to Tuchel.

Similar to Thiago Silva who was shouting and coaching from the stands during Atletico Madrid's visit to Stamford Bridge in midweek, the two goalkeepers also helped the team keep their defensive shape.

[It is] nice that it shows you that the team is totally involved, the guys who were in the stands were totally involved, Tuchel told Chelsea TV.

They were coaching non-stop from the stands, the guys on the bench were [also] constantly coaching the guys on the pitch.

For example, Kepa and Willy Caballero were outstanding in defensive coaching all the time, so it was pretty impressive and the best feeling for a coach.

Caballero's contributions off the pitch

This is not the first time that Tuchel has praised Caballero for his help.

In February, the Chelsea boss explained how the Argentine international helped him decide the team's designated penalty takers.

The guys took some penalties in the last nine days after training, Tuchel said after the 1-0 derby win over Tottenham.

And we have Willy Caballero pushing our penalty takers to be absolutely serious.

If you are not serious you don't score against him, so you get a pretty good picture of who is capable and who is not.

From his social media posts, you can also see how supportive the veteran goalkeeper has been to the team despite his lack of game time.
