Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with the afternoon meetings at Maryborough and Redcliffe the focus. Your best bets for the respective programs are below.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race Three Number 1 Central Otago
Pretty keen on this guy to resume a winner at start one for new trainer Andy Gath. Was formerly with the Galino/Mackinnon stable but now with Gath and we know the record this camp is getting a tried horse to find its best.

Recent trials have been strong and gets run of the race from the pole.

Next Best: Race Nine Number 4 Always A Duchess
Pretty keen on this mare in the get out. She's nearing a win and this race, as a whole, looks on the thin side.

She showed good gate speed to lead at Ballarat last week and just felt the pinch late. She'll find the front pretty comfortably this time around and if she can get a cheap quarter, will take some running down.

Value: Race Eight Number 1 Sharkbite Alto
A bit of a throw at the stumps at odds with this guy, who broke the maiden status last time out in good style, but as you'd expect, the depth there was far inferior to what he faces.

He is a last-start winner drawn the pole and has enough gate speed to hold a spot near the speed. Knockout chance in a competitive race.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race One Number 1 Chili Rocks
These 2040-metre maidens can be very tricky to sort out with confidence, but it does look an ideal setup for this girl.

Far from disgraced first-up when running fourth, beaten a tick over five metres. Drawn the pole, she has all the options in the world and should prove very hard to beat in a thin race.

Next best: Race Four Number 1 Ima Birubi Boy
Looks a great bet. The Veivers camp has him absolutely flying at the moment, with help from good draws, and once again, he draws a sweet gate to take advantage.

Should have little trouble holding the front and it looks a front row with not much speed, so struggling to find a negative for him.

Value: Race Three Number 7 That's Funny
Hopefully, things fall into place. Drawn inside the second row, she follows out a fast beginner who could well hold the front. Should that be the case, this girl will run a big race at likely decent odds.

Forget she went around last time. Copped a check and that put pay to her chances, so hopefully, the rub of the green goes her way this time.
