Two meetings to look at this Wednesday night, with my attention being at Bathurst and Redcliffe. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.
Bathurst
Best Bet: Race Four Number 7 Martini Stride
Looks a really good prospect for the Butt/Smith camp and should be too slick for this lot. Led throughout to win at Menangle last start and was strong to the line in winning, which is a great sign for an early juvenile. Should find the front pretty comfortably here and should be a painless watch.
Next Best: Race Seven Number 9 Captains Queen
Hard to beat in what is probably the weakest of the Tiara heats. Debuted at Albury where she was taken back for cover from the wide cover but she showed really good change up speed when asked and was dominant in winning. Lone runner on the second row, Amanda Turnbull will have plenty of options.
Value: Race Five Number 1 Nelly Bigtime
Think she's a great each-way gamble. Impressive debut winner at Penrith which ensured she was kept pretty safe in betting in the Pink Bonnet. Just went too hard in front and dropped right out. She's better than that and off the debut run, she has enough gate speed to hold the lead and run a bold race.
Redcliffe
Best Bet: Race Five Number 7 Miss Catalina
Like her a lot here. Ten-year-old that is having start 318, but is still maintaining a healthy zest for racing. That was evident last time out here when a close up fourth. Should be able to land the box seat given she follows out a fast beginner and from there, she can get last look via the sprint lane.
Next Best: Race Two Number 1 Venus Jujon
Keen on this mare from the pole. Just had to do too much work last time to get one off and by the time she got in, they had to get going again. It was just a messy race, so forget she went around. Drawn the inside, should get run of the race from there and prove hard to hold out late.
Value: Race One Number 1 Springfield Spirit
Should be getting double figures for this guy and if so, he's worth an each way ticket. Ran last Thursday here when doing plenty of work to hold a forward spot and that burn just told late. Should be able to get a lovely run from the pole and 1×3 at odds, think he'll only run well here.
