NRL bans Knights young gun over pub incident Mar 9th 2021, 05:45, by wwos The NRL has hit young Knights half Phoenix Crossland with a one-match ban after he was involved in an altercation with a patron at a Newcastle pub. Crossland, 20, was suspended for one match and fined $900 for his behaviour. Half of the fine was suspended for 12 months. "In determining the penalty, the NRL took into account that the player proactively reported the incident, co-operated with the Integrity Unit and written submissions made in response to a breach notice," the statement said. Crossland was an outside chance of selection in the Knights' Round 1 team had he not been suspended, with Tex Hoy moved to fullback to cover for the injured Kalyn Ponga and fellow half Blake Green also sidelined.
