Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United are reportedly doing all they can to convince veteran striker Edinson Cavani to stay at the club, amid rumours of a potential return to South America for the player.
The Uruguay international joined the club on a free transfer on deadline day back in October, after previously having spent the past seven years at Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, becoming the club's record goalscorer in the process.
After being eased into life in England, the former Napoli man made his first major impact in the 3-2 win over Southampton, coming off the bench with Manchester United 2-0 down, before laying on an assist and netting a brace to claim a crucial victory for his new side.
The 34-year-old has hit seven goals and registered two assists in all competitions this season, yet injuries have been a consistent issue over the course of the campaign, while he was also forced to serve a three-match ban at the start of the year after an alleged offensive social media post.
With the Red Devils and Cavani yet to agree to a contract extension, there have been rumours that the player may be making the switch to Argentine side Boca Juniors, although according to the Mirror, Solskjaer is 'doing everything' to keep him at Old Trafford.
The forward originally signed on just a one-year basis, yet the club do have the option to extend that for a further year if they wish to do so.
While he has spent periods on the treatment table, the prolific marksmen has looked a real asset when on the pitch, with his experience an excellent addition to what is a largely youthful front-line.
As for United, the struggles of Anthony Martial this season have once again sparked speculation that the club are on the hunt for a top class centre-forward, with Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland just one of the names being mentioned.
Whether or not that hunt for a striker will change should Cavani stay at the club remains unclear, although it would seem Solskjaer's side are in need of a more reliable attacking presence.
