Australian opener Marcus Harris has been suspended for Victoria's Marsh Cup match against Tasmania tomorrow, after accepting a charge of abuse of equipment.
Harris was found guilty of the Level 1 offence arising from the just-completed Sheffield Shield match at the MCG, also against Tasmania.
He accepted a penalty of one suspension point and 50 per cent of his match fee. It was his second offence in an 18 month period.
It means he'll be forced to sit out the 50-over match against Tasmania at the Junction Oval tomorrow.
Harris made 15 and 45 not out in the Shield match, continuing a mediocre summer for the left-hander.
Recalled to the Test team for the final match of the summer against India, he made five and 38 at the Gabba.
He's now gone 13 consecutive innings without reaching 50, although in 11 of those he's reached double figures.
Victoria has named an inexperienced line-up for tomorrow's match, with seven of the 12-man squad yet to celebrate their 22nd birthdays.
With Harris suspended, Victoria has also omitted bowlers James Pattinson, Will Sutherland and Jon Holland ahead of a busy month that includes four one-day matches and three Sheffield Shield games.
"With such a busy schedule we're taking the opportunity to rest some of the players who have carried a heavy load in our recent Shield games," Victorian Chairman of Selectors Andrew Lynch said.
"This also provides an opportunity for some of the younger players within the squad and we're looking forward to seeing what they can produce on Wednesday."
