Arsenal Football Club were looking to win their eighth consecutive game in the Premier League when they traveled to Merseyside to take on Liverpool on Sunday, April 9th, 2023.
The league leaders were also looking to end a 10-year wait for a victory at Anfield as they await their first Premier League title in 19 years. The last time Arsenal got a victory in Anfield was in September 2012.
Notjustok has decided to highlight the five talking points from the game.
(1) Gabriel Martinelli
The Brazilian was fantastic for the Gunners in the game, he was a force to be reckoned with in the first opening minutes of the game. The Arsenal midfielder scored the opening goal in the game which was the same way he did when both teams met at the Emirates earlier in the season.
(2) Gabriel Jesus
The former Manchester City player feels like a January signing for the Gunners following his arrival from injury after the 2022 FIFA World Cup which was hosted in Qatar. Jesus scored the second goal of the game which took his goal tally to 3 in his last two games.
(3) Vulnerable Liverpool:
One of the reasons why Liverpool has struggled a lot this season is because of individual errors most especially in the defensive area.
Arsenal exploited the mistakes of which Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk were the biggest culprits. Jurgen Klopp will need to fix that part of his team if he wants to lead the Reds to a top-four finish this season.
(4) Mikel Arteta:
The Arsenal manager has would go down in history as one of the greatest managers to lead the Gunners to a Premier League title. Arteta's tactics can not be overlooked all through the season, the Spaniard has been able to get the best from his players in their quest for the title.
(5) Title Race:
Arsenal's lead at the top of the table has been cut to 6 points following the result against Liverpool. Manchester City has a game in hand and a game against the Gunners. The 2-2 scoreline has officially thrown the title race open.
