Super Eagles player Victor Osimhen has matched and surpassed two different records in the Serie A for African players.
Following his goal that secured Napoli's first Serie A title in over 33 years, Victor Osimhen has surpassed and equalled two different goalscoring records set by two of Africa's greatest players in the Serie A.
Victor Osimhen surpassed Samuel Eto's record to become the highest goalscoring African player in a single season of the Serie A as he scored a total of 22 goals for Napoli in the 2022/2023 season.
Victor Osimhen also tied George Weah's record with AC Milan to become the joint-highest African goalscorer of all time in the Serie A with a total of 46 goals in the competition. Osimhen has tied Weah's record with fewer games played as Weah played over 110 games compared to 78 games played by Osimhen so far.
Victor Osimhen can surpass George Weah's record as Napoli still have more games to play even though they have secured the prized Scudetto.
